Is You Fail Me a better CD than Jane Doe” No, but that doesn’t mean that Jane Doe is better than You Fail Me. This is Converge at their artistic height, working together perfectly as a band to orchestrate an album that captures an entire feeling, an entire idea.
You Fail Me stands on its own as a fine addition to the Converge canon. “First Light,” a short, Godspeed You Black Emperor!-esque instrumental opener, and “Last Light,” are a fantastic one-two punch to open You Fail Me. “Last Light” has a positively colossal sound and a great sense of dynamics.
You Fail Me is an interesting document in the history of Converge. It is their first recording as a four piece, as well as their first after being signed to Brett Gurewitz’s (of Bad Religion) Epitath Records.
